The Jazz Chisholm Jr. Chain: Why His Jewellery Always Tells a Story
Postseason baseball means close-ups, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. always gives the camera something to look at. The Yankees infielder has turned his chains into a running storyline, with a new piece seemingly every time the stakes go up.
With the Yankees in the ALDS, he's back on screen and people are searching again. This is our take on who he is, why his jewellery lands, where it sits in baseball's long relationship with necklaces, and what the rest of us can borrow from it.

Who Is Jazz Chisholm Jr.?
Born in Nassau in the Bahamas, Chisholm broke into the majors with the Miami Marlins in 2020 and was traded to the Yankees in July 2024. He's a two-time All-Star (2022 and 2025) and won a Silver Slugger in 2025. In his first World Series, against the Dodgers in 2024, his two stolen bases in the 10th inning of Game 1 tied a World Series record.
He's just as well known for how he looks doing it. Anime-themed cleats, bold accessories and, above all, the jewellery. He's been open that the look is part of how he plays, a kind of alter ego that helps him feel confident. And he has little time for the idea that a ballplayer should dress down: "My job isn't to put on a suit and tie. My job is to put on a uniform and get in that dirt," he told Highsnobiety in 2026.
What Do Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s Chains Have in Common?
On the surface, not much. Gold, ice, spaceships, cartoons. Look closer and almost everything he wears falls into one of two camps.
Chains that mark a moment
Some of his best-known pieces are about his own career. There's the custom pendant of one of his diving catches from his Marlins days, and the gold chain he matched to the gold All-Star uniforms at his first All-Star Game in 2022. Then the "Home Team" necklace he wore on the World Series stage with the Yankees in 2024. Highlights you can wear.
Chains that show what he's into
The rest are about the man rather than the player. A UFO pendant in the 2023 postseason, which he explained with "I just feel like I'm from outer space." Then the One Piece pieces: a "Gear 5" necklace and a large jewelled pendant of Luffy, the anime's main character. Add the diamond earrings and grills he wore to a spring training photo day and you get the picture.
Different subjects, same rule: every piece is personal. That's why none of it looks like it came off a shelf, and why it reads as personality rather than showing off.
Why Do Baseball Players Wear Chains?
Baseball has worn necklaces for a long time, just not always for style. Through the 2000s and 2010s, the braided titanium Phiten necklace was everywhere, from travel-ball kids to big-league dugouts. It was sold on a performance claim that science never backed up, and it slowly faded out.
It came back in 2025, when a group of Baltimore Orioles started wearing them as a clubhouse in-joke and the trend spread round the team. That says a lot about what a necklace means in a dugout now: less about performance, more about identity and belonging.
Chisholm takes that idea as far as it goes. The game is filmed in close-up, and a chain is one of the few personal things a player can wear in uniform. He uses it to say exactly who he is.
What Can the Rest of Us Take From It?
His pieces are built for stadium lights and TV cameras. Most of us are dressing for an office, a bar or a weekend away, so the scale doesn't translate. The thinking does.
- Wear one thing that means something. A symbol you actually connect with beats three pieces you picked for size.
- Let it be the loudest thing you wear. A white tee or a black knit gives a statement chain the room it needs.
- Go bigger on the chain, not the stack. One 6mm Cuban has more presence than four fine chains fighting each other.
- Add light carefully. The Half Iced Cuban brings some shine with half the volume. The full ICED collection is there when you want more.

How Do You Choose a Statement Chain?
Three decisions do most of the work: width, length and metal.
Width
Around 2mm to 3mm is everyday and easy to forget you're wearing. From around 6mm, a chain starts to become the point of the outfit. That's why the 6mm Cuban is a good first statement piece: noticeable, but not costume. Go wider only once you know you like the feeling.
Length
Shorter chains sit at the collarbone and read sharp and close to the neck. Longer ones drop onto the chest and work best with a pendant. If you're wearing one heavy chain on its own, keep it on the shorter side so it doesn't swing. Our chain length guide shows exactly where each length sits.
Metal
Gold is warmer and louder, which is why it dominates on the field. Silver is cooler and quieter. Whichever you choose, keep it consistent with your watch and any rings, so the look reads as one decision rather than several.
How Do You Build a Story Piece of Your Own?
You don't need a custom pendant of your own highlight reel. Start with what you'd want a piece to say, then find the symbol that says it.
- Faith. The cross is the most worn symbol there is, and an ICED Cross brings the shine without the size. Our guide to what a cross necklace means goes deeper.
- Strength. A lion has stood for courage for centuries. The Lion pendant is a hand-carved lion's head that works on a fine chain or under a heavier one.
- Travel and protection. St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers. See what the St Christopher necklace means before you choose.
Our guide to the most powerful pendants for men covers more symbols, and what each one stands for.

Where Should a Statement Chain Start?
If a heavy chain feels like a jump, start lighter. A 3mm rope chain in gold has enough texture to be noticed and sits easily on its own. Once it feels like yours, add a pendant, or layer a heavier Cuban over it.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Chains: FAQs
Where is Jazz Chisholm Jr. from?
He was born in Nassau, in the Bahamas. He made his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins in 2020 and joined the Yankees in a trade in July 2024.
What chains has Jazz Chisholm Jr. worn?
Plenty, but the best known include a pendant of one of his own diving catches, a gold chain matched to the gold All-Star uniforms in 2022, a UFO chain from the 2023 postseason, a "Home Team" necklace on the World Series stage in 2024 and One Piece pieces, including a large Luffy pendant.
Why does Jazz Chisholm Jr. wear a UFO chain?
He wore it during the 2023 postseason and summed it up himself: "I just feel like I'm from outer space."
Why do baseball players wear necklaces?
For years it was the titanium Phiten necklaces, sold on a performance claim that science has never backed up. Today it is mostly about style and team spirit, and for players like Chisholm, self-expression.
What is a story chain?
Our name for a chain or pendant that marks something personal, like a moment, a belief or something you love. It matters more for what it means than for its size.
How do you wear a statement chain without overdoing it?
Pick one loud piece and keep everything else quiet. A heavier gold Cuban or a single iced pendant over a plain tee does the job on its own.
Wear Something That's Yours
Chisholm's chains work because they're his. Yours should be too. Start with one piece from our chains collection, and let it say something.
